Having waved ‘au revoir’ to Big Bertha on the dockside at Sheerness Port on a blustery July day, we have just been very happily reunited 34 days later in a hot and sunny Walvis Bay, Namibia. BB was shipped here on the Glovis Summit, a so-called RoRo (roll on roll off) vessel. The ship called in at a number of African ports on the way, giving ample opportunity for petty pilfering, for which these ports are famous, but luckily the only problem we had was a minor dent on the rear of BB’s cabin.
Our import agent pointed us in the direction of a local body shop that immediately repaired and repainted the fibreglass damage for a very reasonable price. Having fuelled up, watered up, gassed up and been shopping (fooded up?), we are now ready to start our Namibian adventure.
Wish us luck!!
Big Bertha waiting for collection
Small dent
Repair underway
Happy to be back in the desert

….and for all other followers of this travel blog …. being from Austria and speaking German …. I noticed the “Jaegermeister’ sign behind THE World Travels…… WTF …. Jaegermeister is available in Namibia?
Hazards:
– Springbok crossing your road when it is getting dark!
– Heat.
– Maybe Jaegermeister in Coke???
Have a jolly good time !
Robert
Thank you for the hazard list Robert. Maybe I should start a Hazard Log?? Although maybe I should test Jaegermeister in Coke hazard!
Don’t waste good Jaegermeister in Coke. Take it neat or with a little water if you must!

Makes Valras Plage, where we now, look like Southend. Bon voyage to Girlie, Honorary Girlie & BB.
Welcome to Namibia and very good to see BB has but cosmetic work. Now the journey can really start for which I send wishes for good luck and smooth trails.
I hope the only hard part was actually getting there.

Glad to hear that everything is ok now and that the customs issues you mentioned didn’t turn out to be much of a delay. Good luck on the trip and keep us posted, Gerry and Jen
Hi Gerry, we’ll keep posting while people keep reading! 🙂
So excited to follow your adventures! Unfortunately, I could appreciate the travel gremlins that hit you en route to Africa – but it’s all part of the experience, right?
Hoping to catch up with you world travelers at some point. 🙂
I am sure our paths will cross again Chris.
