Sorry, you have to be British and of a certain age to understand the title of this post.
Although not a lifetime’s dream, we both wanted to go gorilla trekking while in Africa. Our original plan was to visit them in Rwanda, but after being denied entry (Covid) we chose Uganda instead. Luckily, the eye watering cost has been reduced by 40% due to the lack of tourists.
In Uganda we had two options either Mgahinga or Bwindi National Park. We chose Mgahinga because it is less touristy (difficult to get to) and is partially secondary forest, meaning the gorillas can be more out in the open.
Having negotiated a spectacularly awful 14km rock road to get to the entry gate, we parked up and turned in early ready for the 07:15 start the next morning.
After our briefing we trekked into the woods and waited for the call from the spotters. When it came we were led directly to the gorilla family. We were able to spend an hour with them before heading back down. It was an experience I will always remember, but too expensive to repeat. Box ticked!

Wow, amazing!
Good to know that you are ok!
How is the situation in Uganda (covid, tourists, …)?
What is your next destination?
Stay healty,

Hi Christof, hope you have sorted your electrics out. Uganda is fine re Covid (unless we catch it….) and is empty of tourists. We shall spend our full 90 days here and then head over to Kenya. When are you back? Dave
Wow! This is wonderful, what an amazing experience and a privilege to spend time with these beautiful animals. Great video editing too.
Thank you Madeline for the feedback on the video. It was a great day.
Truly an experience of a lifetime! Great photos! It’s interesting that you are wearing masks in the middle of the jungle. Good idea!
Did you keep your mouth closed? Was that to stop you from eating gorilla droppings??
Hi Christine, It was a NP rule to protect the gorillas.
Glad you made it. The best wildlife experience you can ever have. Worth every cent/sous.
Yes
The video is wonderful to see. Another amazing adventure to share with us. By the way
Dave, what are you holding in the palm of your hand?
Hey Karen. Its a giant worm 🙂
Wow! What a dream.
I absolutely love gorillas 🦍 to see them in the wild is something else.
That must be on lots of peoples bucket lists, certainly mine.
Well worth the scary roads to get there eh?
The chameleon and other animals are great too.
Take care

Yes, it was something else. Dave
Fantastic! Great video. What an experience. Do you always film the 💩 poop!?
Were guards for protection from the Guerillas?
Hi Simon, Poop is good! The guards were to protect us from other aggressive wildlife in the park; namely elephant and buffalo.
What a great experience. Well worth the” journey”
Yes, all part of the memory.
Dear friends,
