That’s a very nice carpet…

We have found the perfect way to avoid being given the hard sell by carpet shop owners in the Medina. Take your own carpet in with you! Whilst having lunch just outside the Medina a mat seller wandered over and Dave bought a very nice woven mat (as we were looking for a door mat for outside). When he carried it back into the Medina, we were told countless times by the carpet traders that we had bought a very nice carpet. They also told us that it was weatherproof, hand woven and we had got a bargain! (The person we actually bought it from could only speak Arabic, so he wasn’t able to do a sales pitch himself.) But that’s how it has been so far in Morocco. Very helpful people.

Not all one-sided though as we have (ok, Dave has!) been helpful too! We had parked in a very remote scenic spot by a lake. The sun had set and night had fallen, when we heard a knock at the door. Thinking it might be the police asking us to move to an official campsite, we reluctantly opened it. It was actually a local guy who had also been enjoying a day at the lake with his family, but found that his car battery was flat and nobody he asked had jump leads. Hero Dave to the rescue (with his comprehensive vehicle recovery service) and a happy family on their way!

Here are some photos from our first few days in Morocco.
