All good plans…….
Having said goodbye to Big Bertha in Durban back in March we were expecting to meet her again in Zarate, Argentina, in early May. Unfortunately, the shipping companies have had different ideas.
Big Bertha, because of her size, needs to be transported by a RoRo ship (Roll On, Roll Off). These are normally used to transport new vehicles from their point of manufacture to their point of sale. In this case Asia to Africa and South America. The shipping schedules, and where the the ships call, are very much determined by manufacturing rates and market demand.
The plan is that Big Bertha join one of these ships coming from Asia to drop off a batch of new cars in Africa before continuing to Argentina. Unfortunately, the next ship is not scheduled until mid June and we have not yet been allocated space on that vessel.
So what have we been doing? We have spent most of our time up until now in Exeter, but with short visits to London and Nottingham. And now we have journeyed to Béziers in the south of France to hang out at our friend’s empty apartment until June – or possibly longer (thanks Raquel!). The weather is warm and we hope to catch up with friends, eat good food, and drink local wine.
The best laid plans gang aft a-gley.
Sorry to hear yours fell victim too.
Enjoy France it’s not quite the same but they say the wine is good.
Exeter!! Why didn’t you come to see us?
Only kidding, but you should have.
What a shame about BB, lets hope she gets a place on the next trip.
It does mean you can have a nice holiday in France, before your next adventure, really looking forward to your next instalment!
😘
Enjoy France! A splendid place to relax and refresh until you’re next adventure. Meanwhile, raise your glass of vino to new exciting places in the near future. Cheers!
In the scheme of things, I’d say that you’re winning; as usual you have converted a problem to an advantage! More power to your elbows, and enjoy the wine…
Hi, what a disappointment, but can’t be that bad discovering France😂😂. Seriously hope things get sorted out soon and you are united with BB soon😀 until then keep in touch, I may be in Europe in summer😀
Life of Reilly!
Shame to have missed you when you were in UK. Be sure to call if you come back.
Enjoy the wine while in France because the beer is not that good!!!!
Good luck in South America when you eventually get there.
Peter & Claire
Just enjoy the enforced change of plan – and good luck on getting a BB A place on the next ship heading to South America.
