It’s a comfortable 24⁰c inside Big Bertha. Never mind that it’s cold outside, our truck has been designed by Bocklet to cope! Our defences start with a thermally insulated cabin structure – the walls are 65mm thick and are composed of GRP outer layer, then foam, then 10mm plywood and then a GRP inner layer. Along with all windows being double glazed and our roof hatches being insulated, this makes for a cabin that is easy to heat and then retains that heat.
Our heating systems our quite sophisticated too: we have a central heating system with a boiler, hot water tank and radiators and, for a quick blast of heat, a diesel fuelled blown hot air system. The central heating boiler can be powered from our on-board Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) bottles or electricity when we are plugged in to a shore supply. We have two 11Kg LPG bottles one of which is an exchange bottle and the other is a refillable bottle which we can fill up at a petrol stations. The blown hot air heater draws diesel from our main tanks which can hold 600L combined.
More on our other technical systems later…

Hi,
We have seen your truck in south of Spain. Looks very good. We also travel in Morocco. We are in Midelt.
We are interested to know more about your truck. Maybe we meet each other somewhere in Morocco. Will you also go to Merzouga?
Enjoy, Aranea.
Hi Aranea, We are now heading for Figuig and will afterwards head for Merzouga. We want to take the desert track from Merzouga to Tagounite.
We are quite close to you – in Boulemaine now, heading for Missour tomorrow.
Hope to meet you soon! Dave
