A Minor Inconvenience -Stranded in Tinghir, Morocco

Two week ago our home was assaulted by a nasty smell of the effluent kind. Our toilet system had sprung a leak. After investigation David determined that a small part, that pumps said effluent from bowl to tank, had ruptured. A replacement was purchased from the UK and shipped at significant cost by UPS to Morocco, where the Moroccan Douane (customs) have sat on it and are holding us to ransom.

Never mind, our temporary bolthole is a lovely campsite located in the Todra George, just up the road from Tinghir town – easily reached by bus and very good for food shopping.

We are just relaxing and getting our chores done; but it does mean we will have to expedite our journey north to leave Morocco before our three month visas expire.

For everyone’s sake, we’ve not posted pictures of the toilet dismantling and cleaning. Suffice to say – it wasn’t pleasant!

PS: We’ve given up on UPS/Moroccan customs and are moving on (an expensive lesson) – and we’ll order another set of parts to be delivered to us in southern Europe. In the meantime, we’ll be staying in campsites or making use of a bucket!!
