We were wondering whether we should make the 485km return trip to Livingstone from Lusaka to see the Victoria Falls. After all, we’d be visiting the Zimbabwean side later in the year. However, with a week to kill before flying back to the UK, we decided to go for it and boy, are we glad that we did!
We visited at just the right time – there was plenty of water, but not so much that there was nothing but mist. Entry to the National Park is 20 USD, which is very good value compared to other equally priced but much less interesting, national monuments.
The visit to Livingstone Island, located midway across the top of the Falls, was dearer but nonetheless great fun. We posed for pictures at the brim of the Falls, paddled in Angels Pools and had a lovely breakfast overlooking the Falls.
Livingstone, the nearest town and where we stayed, was also a pleasant place. The national and railway museums are a bit tired, but worth a visit nonetheless.
On the way down from Lusaka we stayed Siavonga and visited the Kariba dam. It is a very impressive piece of infrastructure – Zambia and Zimbabwe share the hydroelectric power generated by it.
Looks like you had lots of fun at the Falls.
Safe journey back to UK.

Waaooh you guys looks like you had an amazing time at the Falls. It’s incredible to see so much water now than a few months ago. It gives us a lot of hope about the Falls coming back to life. Well done guys and enjoy UK
Thank you Veronica! The water was flowing well and so much so that the devil pools were closed. In a month or two the spray will be overpowering.
AWESOME! This looks like a Honeymoon tour!
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing journey into a part of the world many of us will not see.
Thank you Gabrielle! Always pleased to receive your feedback. And never say never!!
