Leaving the baking hot Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park behind, we made our way to Durban, where we readied Big Bertha for shipping to South America. On the way we visited Kimberly, home of the ‘Big Hole’ – a huge diamond mine, our friends Johan and Lyn, Terry (our champion mechanic) and the Drakensburg mountains.
Here we are with Johan and Lyn and their truck at Koppies dam. We spent a lovely three days kayaking and braaiing.
From Koppies dam, we once again visited Terry for further work, including another windscreen. I’ve update this post to detail that work. Terry, Lorna and crew are very hospitable and we were sorry to say goodbye.
Francine really wanted to attend the Drakensburg Boys Choir School concert having read about the school earlier in our trip. We booked tickets and headed into the Drakensburg. The concert was brilliant (no photos allowed, but look them up on YouTube) and we followed it with a week of hiking, before heading into Durban.
And here is a montage of our video footage in South Africa.
Amazing!
What a fantastic ‘film’ the scenery is breathtaking.
Keep them coming!
All the best for BB’s trip to South America.
Loved the film.
Hi Guys,
Looks like you had a blast on this tour. Sounds like you are impressed of Rosenbauer Fire engines (made in Austria 😉 – best of airports).
Continue your amazing trip!
Great Video and what an adventure and really reminiscent for us.
Not sure about your taste in music though !
