Happy New Year (2025)!!

We hope you enjoyed the New Year’s Eve celebrations wherever you were on this marvellous planet we call home. This year NYE found us perched on top of a hill at a small, but very nice, campsite on the outskirts of Quito in Ecuador. Although on the equator, we were at an altitude of 3024m and we were very pleased to have a fire to huddle around with our fellow multinational overlanders (Belgium, American, Canadian, Ecuadorian, French and Dutch). The clouds rolled through the campsite, but cleared at midnight to reveal the city below as fireworks erupted all over. After midnight we participated in the Ecuadorian tradition of burning effigies (normally of politicians, but can be anybody). This puts to bed lasts years problems to start afresh.

Best Wishes for 2025

David and Francine

“Puts to bed last year’s problems” – just as well but not the many wonderful moments that transformed your South American road trip into the AWESOME 2024 it turned out to be – a year that glided by so fast with the speed of a falling star – blink and you miss it: it seems like yesterday when you were hurtling us down the Ruta 3 to The End of the World before the icy wastes of the Antarctica, the glacial lakes of southern Chile and along the gripios to the Chilean and Bolivian heights before BB collected her blessings with Pious Dave head bowed as the Priest intoned the blessings and then onto the Peruvian Inca ruins leading to Ecuador and the New Year: it will be impossible to put “to bed last year’s” wonderful and sometimes fun-filled times – the expectation of which might imply 2025 proves to be just as awesome: to that end the wish is for a VERY HAPPY 2025 for you.
